About Me

Hey y’all! Had to give you all the quintessential Midwestern welcome. My name is Kirsten [kuhr - stihn] (not Kristen, Christina, Christine, etc) I am honestly not bothered by people mistakenly calling me by the wrong name, but if you’re around my friends or family… good luck haha. Keep scrolling to learn more about me!

Currently based in Independence, MO Kirsten Mims was born and raised in South Kansas City. While mainly using acrylic paints, she also likes to express herself in many other art forms including digital art, clothing with her art incorporated, wood and resin. Essentially, if it sparks her interest or is requested by an inquiring client, she is not shy about experimenting with new mediums and creating pretty much anything.

Inspired by her father, Bobby, who is also a self taught artist, Kirsten would spend hours and even days painting and drawing alongside him as a child. Both of them being left handed created an even stronger bond as her father was able to help her navigate the frustrations that sometimes come with her left handedness, like painting right to left in attempts to not smear what she had created.

Art has always been an escape and form of therapy for Kirsten. During a bout of deep depression after witnessing her uncle pass away, she dove deep back into art to help in her healing and hasn’t looked back since. Her passions in art include filling a void for the underrepresented, fun artwork for kids and turning them into cartoons, resin and gold leaf.

Some of Kirsten’s favorite artistic achievements include commissioned pieces for professional athletes and music artists as well as the emotional impact her personalized pieces have had on her clients of all ages. Being able to bring happiness and joy and as well as truth to people through her art are by far the most important impacts she wants her art to have.
